28th March 2019 - Author: Luke Gallin

Property and casualty (P&C) insurer The Hartford has announced the launch of The Hartford Global Insurer Network, a new, directly-managed network of insurance partners that’s backed by an international technology platform.

The HartfordThe launch sees The Hartford enhance its multinational capabilities, and through the network the P&C insurer will offer insurance protection for U.S. firms in more than 200 countries through both local and regional partners.

The firm’s Head of Multinational Insurance, Alfred Bergbauer said: “For a U.S. company, doing business globally can present a variety of new risks and having the right protection in place to operate in other countries is essential. We are pleased to expand our network of global partners to continue to provide the insurance solutions our customers need around the world and the excellent service they have come to expect.”

The insurer continues to develop its network, which will be made up of over 80 local and regional insurance companies. At the same time as offering U.S. domiciled clients local policies overseas, The Hartford will also service local U.S. policies for clients of its strategic partners.

One of The Hartford’s partners is UK insurer Aviva, which will service the needs of The Hartford’s customers operating in the UK and Ireland.

President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aviva Canada and of Aviva Global Corporate & Specialty, Colm Holmes said: “Like Aviva, The Hartford has more than 200 years of history and shares similar values, making them the ideal partner as we embark on our next phase of growth. The Hartford will provide Aviva’s clients with a comprehensive insurance solution in the U.S. – and we look forward to servicing the needs of their customers in the U.K. and Ireland.”

The company has also announced the development of a cloud-based network management and engagement platform, enabling real-time collaboration among local partner offices in the network to both track and service policies. According to The Hartford, the platform offers a new view into the underwriting, instruction issuance, claims information, account information, and also tracking of performance indicators by programme, country, and partner.

The platform will be available to all network partners on April 1st, and will then be made available to brokers and customers later this year.

“Successful multinational programs require close collaboration among the customer, broker, carrier and network partners. The new system provides a central resource to view and manage the policies in a way that is efficient and transparent,” said Bergbauer.
