The Hartford names William Steinberg head of wholesale property, Navigators

Property and casualty insurer The Hartford has appointed William Steinberg as head of wholesale property for Navigators, a brand of the company.

William SteinbergIn his new role, Steinberg reports to Vince Tizzio, head of the Global Specialty business at The Hartford, and will partner closely with Tim Ryan, who leads the Wholesale unit for Navigators.

As head of wholesale property, Steinberg takes responsibility for leading the strategic direction and underwriting for the firm’s wholesale property solutions, as well as the management of relationships with wholesale distribution partners in the property arena.

He joins the company from Validus Specialty Underwriters (AIG) in Boston, where he served as senior vice president and head of commercial property. Prior to Validus, Steinberg held numerous commercial property underwriting leadership roles over a 25-year career.

First announced in 2018, The Hartford closed its acquisition of The Navigators Group, Inc. for a total price of $2.2 billion in cash in May 2019.
