Atain Insurance Companies, an insurer and member of the H.W. Kaufman Group, has hired Tom Dassow as Vice President & Head of Primary Liability, where he will oversee the firm’s newly formed General Liability (GL) brokerage unit.
Based in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Dassow will report to Linc Trimble, Atain’s Chief Underwriting Officer.
He joins Atain from CM Vantage Specialty Insurance Company, where he most recently led the organisation’s casualty division.
Throughout his seven-year tenure at the firm, he significantly grew that operation, gaining a deep level of industry expertise along the way.
Previously, Dassow also held underwriting leadership positions with American Family Brokerage and Global Indemnity.
Addressing his new role, Dassow said: “This is a great opportunity to join the Atain leadership team and contribute to the company’s expansion into the E&S brokerage space. I’m excited to join a privately-owned, “A” rated carrier with a great culture.”
Chris Zoidis, President & CEO, Atain, commented: “With his strong underwriting background and track record of success, Tom is a leader who will drive new growth as part of our brokerage expansion strategy, which will serve as a major pillar of Atain’s long-term success. Tom will unlock new opportunities for our GL brokerage unit within the Excess & Surplus casualty sector.”
In related news, Atain recently appointed Cara Delestienne as Vice President and Head of Binding Authority.
