UIB, a provider of specialist insurance and risk solutions for the energy and construction sectors, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ray Spreadbury as Head of Renewables and Divisional Director – Downstream within its Energy & Construction division.

uib-logo-newSpreadbury joined UIB in 2025 and brings over 30 years of experience in broking and risk management across the global energy industry.

He brings deep expertise across renewable, upstream, and downstream energy insurance, advising clients ranging from emerging developers to large multinational organisations.

Most recently, he was with MMI International, providing risk management guidance for LNG facility projects in the United States. His work also includes advising the Falkland Islands Government on the legal framework for oil and gas operations, as well as negotiating contracts for a European developer of 1GW battery energy storage system (BESS) assets.

Earlier, he led the Renewables division at Price Forbes, supporting clients across the UK, Southeast Asia, South Africa, and South America. At Aon, he held senior leadership roles, including Interim Head of Offshore Renewables, broking major offshore wind projects such as a 3GW wind farm, and contributing to the development of advanced technologies including floating wind and turbines exceeding 15MW.

Spreadbury began his career in 1993 on the graduate scheme at Sedgwick Insurance Brokers, building the technical and commercial foundations that underpin his advisory approach today. He joined Marsh in 1999, progressing to Head of Renewable Energy and, from 2014, Head of Energy in Australia, further expanding his international experience.

Robert Brundrett, Managing Director of UIB’s Energy & Construction Division, added: “Ray’s depth of experience across renewables, downstream energy and complex international projects makes him a tremendous addition to the business. His leadership and technical capability will be instrumental as we continue to support clients through the energy transition and expand our renewables offering globally.”
