Validus’ Ed Noonan named StarStone Chairman amid leadership reshuffle

Global specialty insurer StarStone has made a series of leadership changes which includes the appointment of Ed Noonan as Group Chairman. Dick Sanford joins as President of the Group while Chris Rash has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of StarStone International and Deputy Group CEO.

Starstone logoNoonan brings over 30 years’ experience to the role and joins from Validus Group, where for 13 years he served as Chairman and CEO.

Noonan was President and CEO of American Re from 1997 to 2002 and before that worked for Swiss Re.

Sanford has over 35 years’ experience and will oversee StarStone’s global underwriting and reinsurance strategy.

He was previously the Chairman and President of PartnerRe US, Head of P&C North America.

Rash has been with StarStone since August 2018 and will lead the company’s international business and operational strategy at Group level.

He has over 20 years’ industry experience, having held a number of financial and operational leadership positions, including 15 years at RSA, and as Group Chief Financial Officer at MS Amlin.
