Tobias Sonndorfer, CFA, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VIG Re, said the company’s new three-year strategy, VIGRe28, marks a natural evolution, leveraging data and technology to enhance client value and create compelling opportunities to navigate global uncertainty together with partners.

The new three-year strategy is built around three pillars: Strengthen, Expand and Accelerate.

According to the executive, the strategy comes at a time of growth for VIG Re, positioning the reinsurer to support its clients in a more meaningful way as they navigate the risks of today and tomorrow.

“The first pillar, Strengthen, means doing what we do today even better. It involves a stronger focus on deepening relationships with our clients, increasing our penetration in our markets, and developing our knowledge proposition for clients—supported by leveraged, simplified and modernised processes and technology,” Sonndorfer explained.

He continued, “The second pillar, Expand, is about growing our capabilities beyond our client market organisation through verticals—such as Facultative Re and international nat cat business—which we will refer to as Special Markets going forward.

“We will also expand geographically and increase our presence in Asia, supported by an office in Singapore. VIG Re will open VIG Singapore during the course of 2026 to support our business in Asia.

“Lastly, Accelerate is about growing the value we bring to our clients and offering a seamless experience, supported by our know-how and technological capabilities. We will continue to be a trusted partner, driven by our values of passion, partnership and performance.”

Sonndorfer said the strategy puts clients at the centre, aiming to bring VIG Re closer to them through relevant, reliable solutions—both by leveraging its expertise and by strengthening its geographic presence in Asia for existing and new clients.

In executing this strategy, he added that the firm will remain focused on what matters most to it, maintaining underwriting discipline and staying committed to the principle of sustainable growth.

The executive concluded, “I’m proud, first of all, to present this strategy as it guides us into the next chapter of VIG Re. VIG Re 28 is a natural evolution, embracing data and technology to deliver greater value for our clients and create exciting opportunities to navigate global uncertainty together with our partners.”
