Re/insurance holding company W. R. Berkley Corporation has appointed Arthur G. Davis as President of its subsidiary, Vela Insurance Services.
Davis has more than 30 years’ experience in the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry and joined Vela in 2018 as Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer.
Prior to this, he served as President of the excess and surplus lines segment at Colony Specialty, which is part of Argo Global.
“Art is a proven leader with significant expertise in the commercial excess and surplus lines business,” said W. Robert Berkley, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of W. R. Berkley Corporation.
“He is a highly skilled underwriter with a customer-centric focus that complements our experienced team at Vela,” Berkley added. “We are pleased to have him take on this role.”
Vela Insurance Services specialises in commercial casualty insurance on an excess and surplus lines basis.
It focuses primarily on general liability insurance for construction, manufacturing and general casualty clients as well as products liability and miscellaneous professional liability coverages distributed through wholesale insurance brokers.
