W. R. Berkley Corporation names Forte President of Berkley Public Entity

W. R. Berkley Corporation has announced the appointment of John J. Forte as President of Berkley Public Entity.

Berkley Public Entity is a provider of casualty insurance and reinsurance solutions for municipalities, counties, school districts, special public districts, public utilities and risk-sharing groups.

Forte, who joined Berkley Public Entity as Senior Vice President, Chief Underwriting Officer and Chief Operating Officer in 2018, holds over two decades of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.

Throughout his career, Forte has served in various technical and leadership roles with a particular focus on the public entity insurance market.

Commenting on the appointment W. Robert Berkley, Jr., president and CEO of W. R. Berkley Corporation, said, “John has been instrumental in the growth and development of Berkley Public Entity since he joined the organization.

“He has proven to be a dynamic leader, and we are confident that he will continue to collaborate with the team at Berkley Public Entity as they drive the business forward.”

In related news, last month, W. R. Berkley Corporation announced the appointment of Lee Iannarone as Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

A few weeks before that, the firm disclosed its Q2 results, reporting that net income doubled to $356.3 million compared to the same quarter last year, with a return on equity and operating return on equity of 21.1% and 18.4%, respectively.
