W. R. Berkley establishes new Healthcare unit, names head

W. R. Berkley Corporation has announced the formation of Berkley Healthcare, a new unit that will provide a broad array of products and services to all types of healthcare providers, and has appointed AIG’s Gregg A. Piltch as its President.

Berkley logoBerkley Healthcare is comprised of Berkley Healthcare Professional Underwriters, which provides customised, comprehensive professional liability solutions, and Berkley Healthcare Financial Lines, which offers a suite of coverages, including D&O liability, employment practices liability, errors and omissions and cyber liability.

The company said that Berkley Healthcare, working alongside BerkleyMed, will bring additional solutions to the fast-growing healthcare sector, which currently represents 18% of U.S GDP.

Piltch, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the property casualty insurance industry, will be responsible for leading the new unit, and for overseeing and coordinating additional and enhanced product offerings, W. R. Berkley added.

Piltch has spent the majority of his career in senior leadership positions at AIG, and has expertise in underwriting, operations, and risk management, having most recently served as Head of Global Casualty Technical Underwriting.
