Westfield Specialty International, a specialty insurance provider, has appointed Abigail Piper as Deputy Class Underwriter, Marine Liability, thereby strengthening its marine proposition.
In her role, Piper will be based in London and report directly to Simon Engelen, Class Underwriter, Marine Liability.
This appointment is the latest in a series of hires to expand Westfield Specialty International’s marine and energy offering, and follows that of Matt Radbourne to lead the power and renewables line earlier this month.
Piper has over fifteen years of insurance industry experience. Most recently, she served at Convex Insurance as a Senior Underwriter, Marine and Energy Liability. Before this, she spent almost twelve years in various underwriting roles at Markel International.
Jon Hamilton, Divisional Director, Marine and Energy, commented on the appointment, “Sustainable growth lies at the core of Westfield’s strategy, and achieving it depends on our continued ability to attract the best talent in the market. Abigail is a fantastic addition to our team.
“She brings an ambitious mindset along with deep knowledge and experience in the marine liability sector, making her well-positioned to support the growth of our portfolio and help us continue to deliver best‑in‑class service to brokers and clients alike.”
