Wilkie Farr & Gallagher has appointed David Luce to be a partner in its New York office.

Luce, who has joined the company’s Firms Insurance Transactional and Regulatory Practice, comes to the firm with over twenty years experience in complex insurance-related transactions, regulatory matters, and litigation.

Wilkie Farr & Gallagher said that he had extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, insurtech, and venture capital financings, reinsurance, securities offerings, variable annuity hedging, sidecars, catastrophe bonds, transformer trades, insurance and weather-linked derivatives, longevity and mortality swaps, and pension solutions.

Luce also advises insurance companies on strategic venture investments, as well as insurtech emerging growth companies and start-ups.

John Schwolsky, co-chair of the Firms Insurance Transactional and Regulatory Practice, said in a statement: “Over the years we have worked with David on some of the insurance industry’s most significant M&A, alternative risk transfer and financing transactions. We have the highest respect for David and his practice and are delighted to have him join us.”

The announcement is the latest in the company’s ongoing expansion of its preeminent global insurance practice, which has included welcoming partners Melanie James and Tim Baumgartner in London earlier this month, as well as adding partner PK Paran and counsel Gabriel Gershowitz in New York (October 2021), and partners Kara Baysinger, Stephanie Duchene, Matthew Gaul and David Heales in California and New York (April 2021).
