Willis Re, the reinsurance business of global re/insurance brokerage Willis Towers Watson, has appointed David Schoenrock as Executive Vice President and Head of Global Accounts for Willis Re North America.
Effective December 23, Schoenrock will report to Doug May, who has concurrently been promoted to President of Willis Re North America.
Schoenrock joins Willis Re from Guy Carpenter, where he has spent the previous 17 years, most recently as a Managing Director. Prior to this, he worked at General Re for 17 years.
Dividing his time between New York and Stamford, Schoenrock’s new role will see him liase with senior executive teams of major U.S. clients and prospects, working across Willis Re’s broking, actuarial, and modelling teams to set and execute strategy for North American based global accounts.
Schoenrock will also mentor colleagues in both offices and assist with product design and development for Willis Re’s global clients.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Dave’s expertise and work ethic join the team,” said Jim Bradshaw, Chief Executive Officer of Willis Re North America.
“His considerable experience and stellar reputation in the market will allow him to immediately plug into our major account portfolio and across the broader Willis Re. He will provide critical assistance to our efforts to grow our footprint and attract new clients in this space,” Bradshaw explained.
“Most importantly, Dave fits perfectly into our culture of collaboration and mentorship and will be invaluable asset in our efforts to pair seasoned executives with up-and-coming talent, ensuring our clients continue to get the benefit of market experience and new perspectives.”
May, meanwhile, joined Willis Re in 2007 following 12 years at Guy Carpenter. His role as manager of Willis Re’s North America Business Segments and a member of the NA Executive Committee will remain unchanged following his promotion.
Willis Re highlighted May’s leadership of the Personal and Small Commercial Property segment since joining Willis Re North America, and more recently his efforts to help drive new business production through the creation of product and content across all business segments.
“Promoting Doug makes perfect sense as well,” Bradshaw added. “He has been an outstanding performer and has played a huge role in the development of our North American business.”
“He was a driving force in the successful launch of our recent Wildfire Model and has been a key driver in client and prospect focused risk management and mitigation projects. He is admired and respected by colleagues and clients alike and he is well suited to assume this role.”
May also commented: “I am continually amazed by the abilities of Willis Re colleagues and the incredible platform we have to serve clients. I am excited about this new role and look forward to working with our branches and segment leaders to better serve our clients.”
