Willis Re, the reinsurance arm of global insurance brokerage Willis Towers Watson (WTW), has announced the appointment of Simon Buxton as Managing Director of its International Customised Reinsurance practice, based in London.
Willis Re’s International Customised Reinsurance practice has a focus on non-traditional reinsurance, and in his new role, Buxton will be tasked with leading the reinsurance broker’s development in the expanding customised reinsurance space across the international region.
Buxton is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries UK and brings two decades of experience in reinsurance, which includes roles as Head of Structured Reinsurance at both XL Financial Solutions and Allianz Risk Transfer, and Global Head of Treaty and Facultative at Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty.
He will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Willis Re International, Tony Melia, who commented: “The search for optimal, customised reinsurance solutions to secure capital and earnings resilience, often across both assets and liabilities, is increasingly at the top of our clients’ strategic agendas.
