5th September 2019 - Author: Charlie Wood

Willis Re, the reinsurance business of global re/insurance brokerage Willis Towers Watson, has promoted Franck Pinette to lead its International Life & Health Practice.

willis-re-logoPinette, who joined Willis Re as Managing Director for EMEA Life & Health in 2018, brings over 30 years’ experience to the role.

Prior to joining Willis Re, he spent eight years as Chief Executive Officer of Guy Carpenter’s European Life Reinsurance operations.

Effective September 1, Pinette will oversee Willis Re’s development in the Life & Health reinsurance market.

He reports to Tony Melia, CEO of Willis Re International, and succeeds Greg Solomon, who leaves to pursue new career opportunities.

“Our Life & Health activity continues to develop fast with investment in resource around the network accompanied by healthy growth in revenue,” said Melia.

“As we continue to expand, Franck is ideally placed to oversee the next phase in our growth, supported by Willis Re’s APAC, EMEA and LAC dedicated Life & Health Practices and our Life & Health consulting teams in Willis Towers Watson’s Insurance Consulting and Technology (ICT) business.

“Willis Towers Watson is highly skilled in this space and possesses the market-leading actuarial resources required to strengthen our position as a key player in the Life & Health reinsurance market.”

Commenting on his appointment, Pinette said, “With the advent of Solvency II and other regulatory frameworks around the world, life insurers are much more conscious of the impact that reinsurance can have on their balance sheets, P&L and wider risk management.

“As clients increasingly review their reinsurance arrangements Willis Re can provide impartial advice and broader market access. By combining broking and advisory capabilities we bring a unique value proposition to the life reinsurance market and provide credible and innovative reinsurance solutions to our clients.”
