Andrew Souter has been appointed Head of Capital at Pioneer Underwriters, effective 19th August 2019.
In his new role he will report to Pioneer’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andrew McMellin, and will be responsible for the capital and reinsurance buying functions within the company, while at the same time being tasked with developing and implementing the Group capital strategy.
He will also have a focus on expanding Pioneer’s capital base and matching the firm’s various risk flows to the most appropriate providers of capital, both traditional and alternative.
He joins the firm from reinsurance broker Willis Re, where he was most recently Regional Director with responsibility as Head of the London International ILS practice group and Head of the London APAC non-marine treaty team.
McMellin commented: “Pioneer Group has a clear strategic focus on providing capital partners with efficient access to tailored risk streams via our global underwriting platform. Andrew’s breadth of experience in the capital markets will help forward our strategy and I am very pleased to welcome him to Pioneer.”
