WR Berkley appoints Thomas Joyce as president of Nautilus

Re/insurance holding company W. R. Berkley has announced the appointment of Thomas Joyce as president of Nautilus Insurance Group, a Berkley company.

BerkleyHe succeeds Thomas Kuzma, who has been named chairman, in the new year.

Joyce joined Nautilus as senior vice president of claims in 2015 before serving as Chief Underwriting Officer in 2018 and executive vice president in 2020.

Kuzma has been with Nautilus since 1986 and has since taken on more responsibilities in underwriting management, becoming CUO in 1994 and president in 1997.

In his new role as chairman, he will work towards strengthening relationships with distribution partners, develop business opportunities and mentor Nautilus team members.

“Tom Kuzma has been instrumental in the growth and success of Nautilus since its early days, as well as an invaluable leader within the broader Berkley organization,” said W. Robert Berkley, Jr., president and Chief Executive Officer of W. R. Berkley Corporation.
