Re/insurance holding company WR Berkley Corporation has promoted David LeBlanc to serve as president of Acadia Insurance, its commercial property and casualty subsidiary.
LeBlanc succeeds Douglas Nelson, who joined as president in 2011 and will now transition to chairman of Acadia.
With over 35 years’ experience in the P&C insurance space, LeBlanc joined Acadia in 2006 and most recently served as its Chief Operating Officer and Chief Underwriting Officer.
“We thank Doug for his work in advancing our terrific franchise at Acadia. We are delighted that he will continue to share his considerable talents with the teams at Acadia and Berkley more broadly,” said W. Robert Berkley, Jr., president and Chief Executive Officer of Berkley.
“Dave is a proven leader and his appointment provides continuity to the many important initiatives Acadia has underway, as well as its various stakeholders.
“In addition,” he added, “his expertise in commercial lines insurance and deep appreciation for the needs of the Northeast region will continue to be a tremendous asset as he takes Acadia to the next level in this improving market.
“We are fortunate to have the depth in our leadership team to be able to effect such a seamless transition and continue our great work in this region.”
