WR Berkley’s Ira Lederman to step down as EVP, Secretary

Re/insurance holding company WR Berkley has announced that Ira Lederman will step down as executive vice president and secretary on June 1.

BerkleyHe will continue as Of Counsel and assistant secretary.

Lederman boasts a 40 year legal career and joined the company in 1983 as associate counsel.

He was appointed senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary in 2001.

In 2015, he was named to the position of executive vice president with oversight of the Company’s legal, compliance, claims and other administrative functions.

“I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Ira for his dedicated service to the Company over the last 37 years,” said William R. Berkley, executive chairman.

“Our business has benefited in innumerable ways from his leadership and unparalleled expertise in the (re)insurance market.

“His knowledge and insights were invaluable as the Company developed into a leading provider of property and casualty insurance in the United States and beyond.

“While his daily presence will be greatly missed, we are fortunate that we will continue to have his counsel for the foreseeable future.”
