Global insurance brokerage WTW has appointed Rupert Roberts as Head of Corporate Risk and Broking (CRB) for Southeast Asia, and Christine Lau as Head of CRB Singapore.

Both appointments are effective January 2nd, 2024.

Luke Ware, Head of CRB Asia, WTW, commented on the appointments, “The Southeast Asia region is a diverse, dynamic and thriving one with a mix of economies at different stages of development. However, it still faces under-insurance in many markets and we see strong protection needs across different industries and lifecycles of companies’ operations.

“Both Rupert and Christine bring unique skillset and industry experience to develop our business in these high-growth and high-volume retail markets. Their expertise and knowledge will undoubtedly help organisations strengthen their resilience as they grow in this region.”

Roberts’ remit as Head of Southeast Asia will include working with WTW’s CRB country leaders in Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam, as well as the company’s partners in Malaysia and Thailand to accelerate the growth of the business in Southeast Asia markets.

He has worked at various multi-national brokers and joined WTW one year ago as the Chief of Staff for its CRB Asia business.

Lau has been promoted from her current role as Head of Client Services in WTW’s Singapore CRB business.

Her remit will include leading the Singapore team in growing the CRB business across large accounts, specialty and industries through collaboration with various regional teams.

Lau brings with her over 25 years of Singapore-based broking experience, of which six years in broker WTW.

Ware concluded, “The two appointments we have made also demonstrate our commitment in investing and promoting talent in WTW as we strive to be the leading specialty broker and risk advisor, delivering differentiated value and smarter solutions to our clients.”
