WTW boosts international casualty team with three key hires

Global insurance broker WTW has announced a series of major hires for its international casualty team, based in the firm’s London office, part of the direct and facultative global line of business.

Firstly, the company has appointed industry veteran Sam Barnes as a director, having previously held several broking roles at JLT and Marsh.

Bringing over a decade of expertise towards the role, Barnes will focus on large and complex risks and new business development reporting into Ed Hunter, head of international casualty at WTW.

Next up, Camilla Chiatti joins the firm from Beazley, who will focus on Latin American and European regions. Chiatti is highly skilled in technical underwriting, with broad Western European experience too. She will also report into Ed Hunter.

Hunter, commented on the two hires: “I’m delighted that Sam and Camilla are joining the team. Their combined wealth of experience will be a real asset and will certainly help shape our transformation and growth ambitions.”

As well as this, WTW has also confirmed that Parry Herbert has returned to the team as an associate director, after more than 15 years and having spent much of that time at re/insurance broker, Aon.

Boasting more than 20 years of broking experience, Herbert will focus on the Canadian region, report into Thomas Wright, joint head of international casualty at WTW.

Wright, said: “Parry’s experience in placing complex risks, as well as her stellar market profile will strengthen our team even further. We’re excited to have her on board.”

Barnes, Chiatti and Herbert all joined WTW in early July.

In related news, WTW recently hired Aon’s James Baum as the Head of Australia and New Zealand and the Head of Corporate Risk & Broking (CRB) for these regions.
