Youi Insurance, an Australian-based insurance company has appointed Swiss Re’s Laura Wood as Head of Reinsurance.
An experienced veteran within the industry, Wood brings 18 years of expertise towards her new role, having worked within re/insurance and broking across most of the industry’s key markets around the globe and across many lines of business.
She joins Youi Insurance from global reinsurance giant Swiss Re, after an eight-year tenure with the firm. In her most recent role at Swiss Re, she served as Key Account Manager, and prior to that she was a Senior Client Manager within property & casualty (P&C) for Australia & New Zealand.
Prior to joining Swiss Re, Wood spent just over two years working at Aon, where she held the role of Senior Actuary, Analytics, Reinsurance for Australia & New Zealand. Within this role, she was responsible for reinsurance optimisation for Aon’s Australia & New Zealand clients.
Additionally, Wood previously spent nearly four years working at OdysseyRe, where she was Head of Actuarial at OdysseyRe’s London branch.
During this role, she was responsible for pricing areas such as property cat, property risk, casualty, marine, aviation, space and terrorism, as well as quarterly reserving, quarterly capital modelling (including Solvency II model build), annual business planning & quarterly capacity monitoring and ERM.
