Zurich appoints Carsten Schildknecht as CEO Germany

Carsten Schildknecht has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zurich Insurance Group’s Germany operations, after the existing CEO Marcus Nagel announced he would be stepping down.

Zurich LogoSchildknecht worked at Generali Group from 2013 to 2016 as Group Chief Operating Officer and a member of the insurers Management Committee. He worked on initiatives to coordinate customer services within the business, as well as digitalisation efforts.

Following his time at Generali, Schildknecht became a consultant and investor working with insurance technology (insurtech) start-ups, as well as other financial technology (fintech) companies.

His career also includes time working at Deutsche Bank as COO for global private wealth management, based in London and Frankfurt.
