Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS), part of Zurich Insurance, has announced the formation of a specialised Data Center Risk Advisory practice, featuring more than 100 engineers focused on risk prevention and mitigation throughout the entire life cycle of data centers, particularly hyperscale and AI-driven facilities.
The formation of this practice significantly expands ZRS’s existing expertise for data center projects, offering customers enhanced, in-depth support from the initial planning and construction phases through to the ongoing operations of fully functional facilities.
“We recognize the vital role data centers and AI play in the world — driving innovation, increasing efficiency, and solving complex challenges. We’re proud to help customers navigate the complexities of data center builds, reduce exposures and costs and improve project outcomes,” said Craig Phillips, Managing Partner, Advisory Services, Zurich Resilience Solutions US
The formation of the new Advisory practice builds on Zurich’s recently launched Data Center Project Guard solution.
Described as the first-of-its-kind offering, it expands and customises Zurich’s Builders Risk coverage to address the unique exposures and loss drivers of modern data centers.
Data center investment is soaring, with a 92% year-over-year surge to $32.9 billion in November 2025, and global investments projected to reach $6.7 trillion by 2030.
This rapid expansion increases operator exposure to risks like costly delays, downtime, and safety incidents, making specialised risk engineering essential for proactive mitigation.
Currently, Zurich supports over $1T in data center assets across 20+ states, offers advisory services from planning through operations. This new team enhances ZRS’ ability to provide risk mitigation specifically designed for digital infrastructure hyperscalers, contractors, and developers.
The team’s expertise covers data center planning, construction, property, critical equipment, operational resilience, physical/cyber risk, business continuity, and extreme weather.
This deep knowledge, Zurich noted, results in a strong Transactional Net Promoter Score (TNPS) of 97, reflecting high customer trust in ZRS’s services.
Jon Tate, Head of Core Risk Engineering, Zurich Resilience Solutions, US, committed: “With more than 100 risk engineers specializing in data centers – supported by a broader team, each with an average of 26 years of experience working with various industries and hazards – the new practice reflects our 360° view of risk.
“This approach helps our customers identify and address challenges across every stage of their projects – through construction and into operation, supporting resilience and long-term success.”
