Global rating agency A.M. Best has assigned Markel Corporation’s new German insurance subsidiary an A financial strength rating.
Markel announced recently that the German federal financial supervisory authority, BaFin, had granted the firm a license to establish an insurance company in the country, called Markel Insurance SE (MISE).
Markel explained at the time that the new subsidiary was established in order to meet the insurance needs of its clients post-Brexit.
A.M. Best’s A financial strength rating matches that for Markel International Insurance Company Limited, the firm used for insuring such risks prior to Brexit, explains Markel.
