27th March 2017 - Author: Luke Gallin

Acappella Syndicate 2014, which operates in the specialist Lloyd’s of London insurance and reinsurance marketplace, has announced the promotion of Jim Quinn and Matthew Bellamy, effective immediately.

After joining the firm in December 2013 to build its Casualty Reinsurance portfolio for its first year of account, Quinn has been promoted to the new role of Head of the Reinsurance Division.

Prior to joining Acappella Syndicate 2014, Quinn worked for Brit Syndicate 2987 for more than a decade as a Senior Underwriter in the Casualty Reinsurance Division, and also worked for 11 years as an underwriter in the Company and Lloyd’s marketplace.

“In a short time period the reinsurance teams at Acappella Syndicate have built a strong franchise in a challenging market. I am looking forward to managing the future strategy and development of the Reinsurance division, alongside Matthew and the underwriting teams, as the Acappella Syndicate continues to move forward,” said Quinn.

Bellamy joined the firm in April 2014, and has now been promoted to Head of Property Reinsurance. Bellamy has previously held positions at MS Amlin as a North American Property Treaty Underwriter, with a focus on catastrophe and per risk excess of loss structures.

David Indge, Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and Active Underwriter, Acappella, said; “Both Jim’s and Matthew’s promotion reflect the immense value they bring to the Syndicate and the contribution they have made to the Syndicate since their arrival.”

Acappella’s stamp capacity for 2017 is £137 million, and the combined property and casualty reinsurance premiums represented almost £60 million for 2016, says the firm. It’s reinsurance unit primarily focuses on North American business.
