The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Rückversicherung AG (Deutsche Rück) has announced the appointment of Achim Bosch as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 1 July 2025.
Bosch will succeed Frank Schaar, who has served as CEO since February 2018 and is set to retire at the end of June 2025.
Prof. Dr. Frank Walthes, Chairman of Deutsche Rück’s Supervisory Board, commented, “The Supervisory Board has arranged the succession on Deutsche Rück’s Board of Executive Directors at an early stage. We look forward to continuing our close working relationship with Achim Bosch, whom we have come to know as a successful manager with an excellent network of contacts and outstanding technical and leadership skills.”
He added, “With Achim Bosch, Caren Büning and Michael Rohde, the Board of Executive Directors is well positioned to further strengthen Deutsche Rück’s central role in its domestic market and to continue the internationalisation strategy initiated by Frank Schaar in the long term.”
Prof. Walthes also noted, “Frank Schaar will still be setting the course for more than seven months to ensure an optimal handover to the future Board of Management.”
Bosch has been a member of Deutsche Rück’s Board of Executive Directors since the beginning of 2019. He currently serves as Chief Underwriting Officer, overseeing the Non-Life International division.
Prior to that, Bosch spent nearly 25 years at Gen Re in various senior roles, most recently as a Member of the Executive Board, where he managed the non-life business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Central and Eastern Europe.
