20th September 2021 - Author: Matt Sheehan

Acrisure Re, the reinsurance business of Acrisure, has announced several senior appointments within its corporate advisory and solutions division (ARCAS), all of which will report to Managing Director, Ben Canagaretna.

Firstly, Nick Godfrey has been named as Head of Capital Markets, with responsibility for capital raising activities across ILS, funds at Lloyd’s and supporting M&A and other balance sheet engineering activities.

He brings 25 years of industry experience, working primarily with capital markets, insurance markets and other third-party capital vehicles, and has held various risk owner, broker and board positions in global markets across multiple classes of business.

Godfrey co-founded the reinsurance proprietary investment arm of BTG, which acquired Ariel Re, and most recently served as a senior advisor at Barbican and Arch Re.

Next, Jonathan Zisaruk has been appointed as Head of Legacy, with responsibility for leading all types of legacy transactions from structured adverse development covers to more classical loss portfolio transfers.

Zisaruk is a chartered accountant and senior insurance M&A professional with more than 18 years of experience managing the acquisition of legacy reinsurance portfolios.

He joins Acrisure Re having previously worked at Enstar for more than 15 years, most recently as head of M&A and executive vice president, and has been involved in more than 40 successful transactions, involving over $10 billion of reserves, including deals in the US, UK, Lloyd’s, Bermuda, Europe, and Australia.

Acrisure Re also announced the addition of Lauren Johnson as Vice President of Corporate Advisory and Solutions, a role that will see her run the execution process across strategic advisory, capital raising, legacy solutions and M&A for ARCAS.

Johnson has more than 10 years of industry experience and joins Acrisure Re from Securis Investment Partners where she held roles as the head of Lloyd’s and specialty analysis and as a reserving actuary. Prior to this, she was a director in the strategic risk consulting team at Willis Limited.

And Finally, Nick Triggs has been appointed as a Non-Executive Board Member and Senior Advisor for Corporate Advisory and Solutions:.

Triggs has extensive experience providing advice to company boards and executive management teams across the financial services spectrum. He has worked in the industry for more than 30 years and has closed around 140 M&A, equity and debt capital raising deals.

“It is rare for an advisor to provide all pillars of ARCAS’ offering within one aligned and differentiated team. This division too represents our capabilities as a high-quality corporate advisor,” said Simon Hedley, CEO of Acrisure Re.

Canagaretna also commented: “I am delighted to welcome Nick, Jonathan and Lauren to the ARCAS team, as well as Nick Triggs to our advisory board. They are a testament to our focus on investing in talent and their extensive knowledge of the capital markets, strong analytical expertise and vast network of long-standing relationships will contribute toward our position as a trusted advisor for our clients. I look forward to working with them and growing as a team.”
