Aleš Mirnik to succeed Petr Štěpán as Head of CEE at VIG Re

Aleš Mirnik has been appointed as the new Head of Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) at Czech Republic domiciled reinsurer, VIG Re.

VIG Re logoEffective August 8th, 2019, Mirnik takes over from Petr Štěpán as Head of VIG Re’s CEE business, taking responsibility for all of the company’s Non-Life treaty underwriting for the region. This includes the Baltics, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, CIS countries, and also Turkey for business originating from both inside and outside of VIG Group.

In his new role, Mirnik will report to Tomasz Rowicki, responsible Board Member for business assumed from the region.

He brings more than 15 years of reinsurance industry experience to the role, having started his career with Sava Re as an underwriter in 2003. For the past seven years, he has been driving the transformation of the firm and developing Sava Re’s international third-party business as an Executive Director.

VIG Re states that Štěpán is leaving the company after five years in order to pursue new opportunities outside of VIG Group.
