Alesco Risk Management Services, the specialist insurance and risk management broker, has appointed Miller’s Steve Dewey as Executive Partner in its energy division.
Dewey will join Alesco in early 2019 after 23 years at Miller, where he held increasingly senior roles and left as Partner, responsible for the Upstream Technical team.
In his new role, he will focus on upstream business, primarily in the U.S, and will report to Simon Clarkson, Managing Partner, Energy at Alesco.
Alesco said that Dewey’s appointment will further enhance its energy team’s capabilities by providing a strong technical resource with experience in account executive roles and production support, both in the U.S and worldwide.
While at Miller, Dewey specialised primarily in the production of U.S energy-related business, led the strategy and placement of major oil companies and drilling contractor insurances, and managed many high-profile accounts.
He has decades of experience in the specialist energy and wholesale broker space, and has also previously worked for Newman Martin and Buchan Limited, where he was responsible for quoting and placing oil company business.
“Upstream energy remains a key class for us,” said Clarkson. “We’re committed to growing our US book and bringing in top-class, experienced individuals across the business in order to deliver innovative solutions that meet changing client needs.
“Hiring a producer and broker of Steve’s skill and expertise with such a respected reputation will undoubtedly further enhance our technical offering to clients worldwide and is a core part of our strategy.”
Clarkson continued: “In addition to Steve’s capability as a broker, I have long admired his passion for and ability to develop next generation talent, enabling both the individuals and the business to benefit from his wealth of experience. I am delighted to welcome him to the team.”
