Specialist broker Alesco Risk Management Services (Alesco) has hired Bob Choppen, previously the Deputy Managing Director of Energy at insurance and reinsurance broker Willis Towers Watson, to join its growing energy broking division.
Choppen joins Alesco as an Executive Partner in October 2017, responsible for new business development in the energy broking division, focusing on UK and European independent oil and gas companies.
Choppen’s hire comes on the heels of Alesco hiring four senior energy brokers earlier this month.
He began his career with global oil and gas giant BP, working in risk management, before holding a series of director roles at brokerages Marsh, Heath Lambert Group and Aon.
Choppen then joined Willis in 2009, becoming Deputy Managing Director for the brokers energy insurance operations.
He has around 40 years’ of experience in the energy sector, in risk management and broking, and has advised independent oil and gas companies, from start-up businesses to billion dollar operations globally, on risk management and insurance placement strategies.
