Former Chief Underwriting Officer and president of AXIS Re in Bermuda, Peter Kiernan, has joined Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty as head of reinsurance North America for its Alternative Risk Transfer division.
Kiernan brings over 13 years’ experience to the role and will remain working out of Bermuda.
His departure from AXIS Re coincided with a series of management changes at the company.
Kiernan will lead ART’s US and North America reinsurance underwriting operations, a key role given the firm’s role in fronting for ILS capacity providers is largely US-focused.
Allianz has been bolstering the strength of its AGCS arm in recent months, hiring a number of new recruits to reinsurance-focused areas.
Recently, Hyeji Kang was promoted as AGCS’s new Global Head of Reinsurance and Catastrophe Risk Management, while Christof Bentele was named Head of Global Client Management for ART.
