Allianz Commercial has announced the appointment of Claudia Valencia as Global Head of Portfolio Solutions, joining the firm on January 8, 2024.
In her new role, Valencia will be based in London, where she will report jointly to Chief Underwriting Officer Shanil Williams and Global Head of Distribution Jeremy Sharpe.
Allianz Commercial confirmed that in this newly created role, Valencia will have a key focus on driving the global strategy for Portfolio Solutions, including Panels, Facilities, MGAs, Bancassurance as well as other forms of delegated authority.
She joins from American International Group (AIG), where she was Latin America Regional Head of Client and Broker Engagement, a New York-based role.
Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of internationally based underwriting and market facing leadership roles with AIG, Zurich, and other leading insurers in London, Miami, New York and Colombia.

Last month, Allianz Commercial announced the addition of Darren Smart to its global Specialty leadership team as Global Head of Construction.
In addition, it was recently announced that Allianz Commercial and HIVE Underwriters Ltd. are collaborating to underwrite Aviation Hull War and Excess Third-Party Aviation War Liabilities (XS AVN52) classes with immediate effect.
