Allianz Jio Reinsurance, the 50:50 joint venture between Allianz Group and Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL), underwrote gross premiums of ₹266 crore in its first full quarter of operations, securing lead reinsurer status on major treaty programs across prominent Indian private insurers.

The venture, led by Sonia Rawal as CEO, combines JFSL’s extensive local market reach and digital infrastructure with Allianz’s global underwriting scale and reinsurance capabilities.

Following final regulatory approval in March 2026, Allianz Jio Re officially commenced underwriting operations in India.

Alongside gross premiums of ₹266 crore in its first full quarter of operations, Allianz Jio Re reportedly established robust retrocession frameworks to maximise capital efficiency and advanced exposure management.

The new venture is also said to command priority market access as India’s third licensed domestic reinsurer.

Hitesh Sethia, Managing Director and CEO, Jio Financial Services, commented, “The sustained business momentum across our verticals validates the granular architecture of our full-stack ecosystem and the strength of our execution.

“By strategically integrating AI and data analytics, we have unlocked significant efficiency gains across the value chain.

We continue to drive robust growth in our tailored lending solutions, expand access to innovative investment products through our asset management arm, and power the operational turnaround of our payments business through revenue diversification and strict focus on unit economics.

Given the massive opportunity in the country for deeper penetration in sectors like investment solutions and insurance, we are accelerating our investments towards some of our newer businesses, including our JVs with BlackRock and Allianz in these areas, which will yield significant benefits over a period of time.”
