Pan-African focused reinsurance group Africa Specialty Risks (ASR) has announced the appointment of Amir Hussain as an Underwriter within its Political Risk and Trade Credit team.
Hussain joins from Hamilton Insurance Group, where he also served as a Political and Credit Risk Underwriter.
Prior to this, he held similar roles with AmTrust at Lloyd’s and Brit Insurance.
He also spent time as an Associate Director at ANZ, a Senior Associate at EY, Credit Analyst at Barclays and Manager at PwC, all based in London.
“We are excited to have Amir onboard as he brings experience and expertise which are well known and respected in the market,” said Genevieve Ahinful, Head of the Political Risk and Trade Credit division at ASR. “His skill set enhances the variety already present in the team and will help expand the ASR offering to clients.”
Hussain also commented: “In ASR I saw an opportunity to experience and contribute to building a new insurance underwriting business and specifically to grow from inception a new Political and Credit Risk Insurance Book. This is particularly exciting in the context of ASR’s Africa focus; a continent which has a large and continually growing need for political and credit risk insurance solutions.”
With an African focused and experienced team of Underwriters, ASR provides coverage aimed at facilitating trade and investments in Africa.
