Global re/insurance broker and risk advisor Aon has announced the appointment of Christian Hoffman as global CEO of Commercial Risk, effective June 1.

Hoffman will leverage his 25 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries as both a broker and underwriter to lead Aon’s global Commercial Risk business.

He has been tasked with advancing the firm’s strategy to help clients navigate increasing volatility by connecting their complex risk needs with the most efficient forms of Risk Capital.

Reporting to Joe Peiser, Aon’s CEO of Risk Capital, Hoffman will collaborate with Aon Business Services and regional leadership teams to provide clients with integrated, analytics-driven solutions.

Peiser said: “Commercial Risk is central to how we help clients navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected risk environment. Christian has spent his career working closely with clients to address their most challenging exposures, from cyber and financial lines to emerging and systemic risks.

“He has Aon United in his DNA, bringing together expertise, analytics and market relationships to deliver better outcomes. His deep specialty experience and understanding of how to connect risk with the right forms of capital position him exceptionally well to lead Commercial Risk at a time when clients need greater clarity, flexibility and innovation.”

Hoffman currently serves as Aon’s Global Specialty & Financial Products Leader and Head of M&A for North America. Within this role he oversees a broad portfolio including Financial Services, Professional services, Cyber Solutions, Intellectual Property, Crisis Management and Credit Solution.

Since joining Aon in 2003, he has held a series of senior leadership roles, including Global Cyber Leader; CEO of Cyber Solutions for North America; President of U.S. Cyber Solutions; U.S. Practice Leader for Professional Risk Solutions; and East Region Leader for the Financial Services Group.

His professional background also includes five years at Chubb, where he worked as an underwriting manager and senior underwriter.

Hoffman commented: “I am honored to take on the leadership of Commercial Risk at this important moment for our clients. Organizations are facing unprecedented risk complexity, from cyber and transaction risk to increasing natural catastrophe exposure and adverse liability trends in the US.

“Our unique ability to bring together deep specialty expertise, powerful analytics and global market access is a real differentiator, and I am excited to work with colleagues around the world to deliver solutions that help our clients make better decisions.”
