ICEYE, a commercial synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) satellite operator and flood data specialist, has appointed Andy Read to the role of Global Head of Government Solutions.
With an extensive background in public policy, natural catastrophe resilience and re/insurance, Read will lead ICEYE’s efforts to deliver actionable, natural disaster data to public sector organisations.
He will collaborate closely with government leaders and agencies to improve response and recovery capability, helping them understand the extent of damage from natural catastrophes through the solutions and data captured by ICEYE’s SAR satellites.
Prior to joining ICEYE, Read was a leader within the Public Sector Practice at Guy Carpenter, designing risk transfer solutions that enabled financial resilience for government organisations.
“Andy has extensive experience leading government programs focused on natural catastrophe resilience and working with private sector risk carriers to support their mission – both are critical areas for us, where demand for solutions is growing daily,” said Charles Blanchet, VP of Solutions at ICEYE.
“In the past few months alone, we have mapped and monitored over 450 potential flood events and our Solutions team provided structure-level analysis for more than two dozen major floods. It’s thrilling to welcome Andy aboard at such an exciting time for ICEYE, and our Solutions team as a whole.”
“The past two years have signalled an incredible period of growth for ICEYE, and I’m excited to help the team continue their innovative work on natural catastrophe solutions,” said Read.
“Our world-class sensing data represents a fundamental opportunity to improve response capability to disasters for both governments and risk carriers globally. I’m thrilled to bring a decade of expertise across these sectors to ICEYE and be a part of this important work.”
