Global reinsurer Munich Re has appointed Angus Kench as Head of Commercial Claims at Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets, Australia, effective July 1st, 2026.
This appointment aligns with the reinsurer’s long-term growth ambitions, as it continues to build out the team following the recent appointment of Bob Algie.
Kench has nearly 35 years of industry experience, and currently serves as a Director on various Boards.
Most recently, he served on the Global Casualty Product Board of Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) Asia Pacific, a division of Liberty Mutual Group. Kench also served as Vice President of Casualty Workers’ Compensation and Crisis Management Claims APAC at LSM, having joined the company in 2015.
His previous experience includes serving as the Director of the Australian Insurance Law Association (AILA), having previously served as President for two years, and as Immediate Past President for five years. Kench was also the National President and State President of NSW with AILA.
Kench has also served at Cerno as Executive Board Member and General Manager – Expertise & Adjusting Services, General Manager – Expertise Services, and National Technical Manager. He started his career as a Company Director at Aspeck Group in 1992.
