Antares appoints CNA Hardy’s John Taylor as Head of Specialty

12th October 2018 - Author: Charlie Wood

Antares, the Lloyd’s managing agent and member of the QIC Group, has announced the appointment of John Taylor as Head of Specialty.

Taylor will report to the Active Underwriter Joe Battle and replaces Kieran Oliver, who is retiring from Antares after nearly two decades at the firm.

With 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Taylor joins Antares from CNA Hardy, where he most recently served as Head of Specialty.

He has held a range of senior roles at CNA Hardy over the course of 12 years, including Chief Underwriting Officer, European Financial Lines Manager and UK Financial Lines Manager.

Prior to that, Taylor was at Chubb for nine years, having begun his insurance career as a broker at Willis.

“Specialty is a key focus at Antares, and our team has gone from strength to strength under Kieran’s guidance in recent years,” said Battle.

“He has made a lasting impact on our team and I would like to thank him for his years of dedicated service.”

“John is a worthy successor to Kieran’s legacy and we have ambitious plans for the business. We see significant growth opportunities in the segment and John’s experience and understanding of the market will be crucial to continuing and further strengthening our market-beating results.”

“I am pleased that Antares continues to attract individuals of such high calibre and therefore warmly welcome John to the Antares team during the course of this quarter.”
