Antares names Joe Battle CEO

Lloyd’s of London Managing Agency and member of the Qatar Insurance Company Group (QIC Group), Antares, has promoted current Active Underwriter Joe Battle to Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Antares logoBattle’s appointment is subject to receipt of regulatory approval. He joined Antares (then Württembergische) in 2007 and was appointed Active Underwriter in 2009, before now being named CEO of the Lloyd’s Managing Agency.

He has three decades of re/insurance industry experience, having started his career at C.W. Rome in 1985. Following this, he held positions at Charman Underwriting, ACE, and also AXIS, before joining Antares.

Antares Chairman, Ewen Gilmour, said: “Joe has been a critical part of Antares success since its inception in 2008.  As Active Underwriter he has overseen growth into diverse and profitable lines, and cemented our reputation for quality, and empowered underwriting.  His tenure at Antares has been exceptional and we are very pleased to announce his new role today as Antares heads into the next stage of its evolution and growth.”

At the same time, the firm has announced that current Antares Managing Director, Stephen Redmond, has been appointed Group Transformation Officer, a newly created position.

“Following consistent growth and having established Antares’ excellent reputation he oversaw the sale to QIC in 2014. The success of Antares is great testimony to his stewardship and we wish him continued success in his new group-oriented role,” said Gilmour.
