Reinsurance broker Aon Benfield has announced the appointment of Eric Paire and Emma Karhan from Guy Carpenter, with the former set to lead its Capital Advisory unit, and the latter being named Head of Terrorism Specialty and Reinsurer Relationships in London.
Reporting to Aon’s Nick Frankland, UK Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Eric Paire will lead the firm’s newly formed Capital Advisory unit, in conjunction with the resources of Aon Inpoint, Aon Securities and Aon’s Investment Solutions for Insurers.
Emma Karhan will assume the role of Aon Benfield’s Head of Terrorism Specialty and Reinsurer Relationships in London, reporting to Bob Bisset, CEO of Aon Benfield’s Global ReSpecialty division.
Commenting on the appointments, Frankland said: “We are excited to have Eric and Emma join our firm and help lead the development of new capabilities within our client offering.
“Our Capital Advisory unit has been created specifically to advise clients effectively on both their asset and liability strategies, in order to help optimise the use of capital across their operations.
“In addition, we are evolving our terror offering through enhanced modelling tools and coverage development, which will benefit hugely from Emma’s proven expertise and reinsurer relationships in the class. Both hires will significantly add to our client experience.”
Capital services provided by the unit to be managed by Paire include structured and alternative risk solutions, capital provision, business intelligence, financial modelling, and rating agency expertise.
In his previous role with Guy Carpenter, Paire was Head of Strategic Advisory & EMEA Global Partners since 2007.
He developed and coordinated Guy Carpenter initiatives for Enterprise Risk Management and has held several other senior positions at Guy Carpenter, as well as at reinsurers AXA Re and SCOR.
Karhan brings over 17 years’ reinsurance experience. Most recently she acted as Managing Director within Guy Carpenter’s EMEA Practice, where she led its international terrorism placements and was a member of its Nordics business management team.
In her new role with Aon Benfield she will focus on driving growth of terrorism cover, specifically in the pool and public entity space.
In addition, she will be responsible for enhancing the firm’s relationships with the region’s leading reinsurers as part of Aon Benfield Broking Strategies, led globally by Jeremy Goodman.
