Apollo names Tim Cook head of construction

Independent specialist insurer and reinsurer, Apollo, has announced it is expanding its portfolio with construction physical damage to be led by Tim Cook.

apollo-logo-latestCook joined the firm as head of construction and will be reporting to Kate Foster, who has been recently appointed divisional head of Apollo’s property team and will be joining the firm in January 2023.

Cook has 37 years of market experience and in leading the strategic direction of successful construction and engineering business.

He joins Apollo from Allianz Global Corporate & Speciality, where he was the North American Regional Head of Energy & Construction, most recently based in New York.

James Slaughter, CUO, commented: “Having received Lloyd’s approval of our 2023 plan, we are excited to expand our construction capability with the addition of construction physical damage.

“Tim brings complementary expertise to our existing construction liability portfolio, to support our valued clients.

“This is another positive move for Apollo as we continue to diversify our group wide offering to achieve our ongoing strategy of profitable growth.”

Apollo has made a number of appointments in recent months. In January, the firm announced Martin Jackson’s appointment as new head of aviation. This was followed by appointments in May and June of Susan Pateras and Stuart Davies to the respective roles of independent non-executive chair of its Bermudan subsidiary and non-executive director.
