Asia Capital Re announces underwriting and management appointments

Asia Capital Reinsurance Group Pte. Ltd. has announced a number of new underwriting and management appointments, which includes the establishment of specific leadership positions for its Treaty, Facultative and Specialty business.

Asia Capital Reinsurance logoOn October 22nd, 2018, Soeren Soltysiak joined the firm as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Treaty, and in December 2018, Ronnie Tong will join the reinsurer as CUO of Facultative and Specialty.

Combined, Soltysiak and Tong bring almost 60 years of industry experience to the firm, and the pair will also sit on the Asia Capital Re Executive Committee.

“The next phase of our growth will focus on, among other things, broadening our product offering, boosting our claims processing capabilities and developing a greater international presence. Soeren and Ronnie both have extensive exposure and network in Asian and global markets.

“Their expertise and experience will help ensure that ACR is able to continue building on our client base in Asia and the Middle East, while attracting new clients globally, particularly in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand,” said Bobby Heerasing, Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

To lead the firm’s expansion into North America and Europe, Nick Macfarlane has been named Head of Treaty, International, and is expected to join the reinsurer in December of this year.

I am very pleased to have a number of established and up-and-coming talented individuals joining us, all with excellent track records and demonstrated commitment to client service.

Other changes at the company in recent times include the appointment of Michael Resnikoff as Head of Casualty and Financial Lines, Facultative, and Nicolas Winter as Head of Property and Engineering, Facultative. The pair joined the firm towards the end of September, and, the reinsurer also expects to welcome Loo Seng Han as Senior Client Underwriter, Treaty, in January of next year.

Other staff developments include Chan Whye Loon, who has held the role of Chief Retrocession Officer, has returned to the position of Chief Risk Officer. Solomon Chiu, Head of Treaty Market I (Greater China), will take on the additional responsibilities of Principal Officer, Hong Kong Branch Office, pending regulatory approval.
