AXA XL appoints trio of senior execs to London Reinsurance team

AXA XL has announced three senior appointments to its London Reinsurance team, who will serve as the new heads of US Property London, US Casualty Treaty, and Specialty.

axa-logoFrom September 1, Megan Kempe will become Head of US Property London, having been promoted from her previous role as Vice President.

As Vice President, she focused on increasing the company’s re/insurance footprint in emerging markets.

Kempe first joined XL Re Ltd in Bermuda in 2004 as a catastrophe model analyst, re-joining again in 2009 as an Associate Underwriter after a short stint at D. E. Shaw & Co (Bermuda) Ltd.

The role of Head of US Casualty Treaty, meanwhile, will be filled by Nick Pascall, effective from October 1.

Pascall most recently served as Head of Casualty Reinsurance at Hiscox Re in London, and has 27 years’ international re/insurance experience across London, Bermuda and Chicago.

He began his career as Treaty Underwriter at CAN Re in 1992, and has since held senior roles at Catlin Underwriting Agencies Ltd and American Safety Re.

Finally, Conor Gaffney has been appointed as Head of Specialty for AXA XL’s London Reinsurance team, effective from September 1.

Gaffney has nearly 15 years’ experience in the re/insurance industry, and most recently worked as Head of Reinsurance Underwriting at Greenlight Reinsurance Ireland Ltd in Dublin.

He began his career as a reinsurance pricing actuary at Imagine Group, and has held senior actuarial roles at AmTrust International Underwriters Ltd and PwC.

All three of the new appointments will be based in London and report to Rob Littlemore, Chief Executive London Reinsurance at AXA XL
