AXA XL, the property & casualty and specialty risk division of global insurer AXA, has named Andrew Maynard as its new Head of Life, Accident & Health (A&H), UK & Lloyd’s, effective immediately.
Maynard takes on responsibility for leading all underwriting activities for the UK & Lloyd’s A&H operation, and for implementing an underwriting strategy focused on delivering profitable growth.
Additionally, he assumes responsibility for embedding the highest underwriting standards, practices and procedures within the business line, and will work with both clients and brokers to drive product and service development.
He brings more than four decades of industry experience to the role, having specialised in A&H since the start of his career.
His career in the insurance industry started with Sun Alliance in 1980. Most recently, he served as Global Product Lead, Wholesale Life, A&H at AXA XL, after returning from assignment in Singapore and having been promoted within the business a number of times since joining the firm (then Catlin) in 2007.
Previously, he held senior roles at Pacific Life Reinsurance (previously Scottish Life Reinsurance UK).
