AXA XL Reinsurance, part of AXA XL, the property, casualty and specialty risk division of global insurance group AXA, has appointed Stephen Barnard and Callum Higgins as Senior Underwriters in its Marine & Energy Reinsurance team.
Barnard officially joined AXA XL Re on 10 August 2026, bringing 12 years of Lloyd’s underwriting experience across Marine & Energy treaty business.
He has helped manage and grow a diversified global treaty portfolio spanning both proportional and non-proportional business.
Meanwhile, Higgins joined the firm on 13 July 2026, with a background in leading complex portfolios covering Marine War, Cargo War, Marine Piracy and Kidnap & Ransom.
Both Barnard and Higgins will be based in London and report to Julian Longbottom, Global Head of Marine and Energy.
