AXA XL, a re/insurer, has announced key promotions within its reinsurance division, effective 1 January 2026, Julian Longbottom has been promoted to Global Head of Marine & Energy, Reinsurance, while Jamie Pedro has been appointed Head of Specialty, Reinsurance, Bermuda.
In his new role, Longbottom will oversee AXA XL Reinsurance’s Marine & Energy business worldwide, driving strategy, growth, and client-focused solutions. With over a decade of experience at AXA XL, Longbottom brings extensive expertise in strategic development, including expanding the company’s portfolio in Japan.
Pedro will lead Whole Account reinsurance risks globally and collaborate with Longbottom in managing Bermuda-based Marine & Energy reinsurance. Pedro will also continue working closely with core clients across the Property reinsurance portfolio, drawing on his 15 years of experience in AXA XL’s Bermuda Property reinsurance division.
