AXIS Insurance, the primary unit of global insurance and reinsurance player AXIS Capital Holdings, has appointed Meghan Anzelc, Ph.D. a trained physicist and data scientist to lead a new Data and Analytics Unit as Vice President.
In her new role, Dr. Anzelc will be responsible for devising and implementing a strategy and roadmap to expand AXIS’ data and analytics capabilities.
Brian Kemp, Executive Vice President & Chief Pricing Actuary, AXIS Insurance, welcomed Anzelc to her new role; “Meghan is an accomplished data scientist and a proven leader with a strong understanding of the specialty insurance space – she is the ideal candidate to help take AXIS Insurance’s data and analytics strategy to the next level.
“Guided by Meghan’s leadership, we will further build upon our efforts to employ advanced data-driven decision-making and analytics capabilities to enhance our products and services and deliver even more value to our clients.”
Before joining AXIS, Dr. Anzelc was Vice President, Lead Data Scientist, for Zurich North America, where she managed a team of 40 data scientists responsible for integrating predictive analytics across the company’s underwriting and claims functions.
She also held actuarial and analytics roles at CNA and Travelers earlier in her career.
Dr. Anzelc earned her bachelor’s degree in physics from Loyola University Chicago, and received a master’s and doctoral degree in physics from Northwestern University.
She serves on the steering committee for the professional development initiative Women in Insurance Networking Group.
