Alex Wareham has been appointed to the role of Underwriter, Marine & Energy Reinsurance at AXIS Capital.
He joins the firm from Lancashire Insurance Group, where he most recently served as a Marine Underwriter.
Prior to Lancashire, Wareham spent over eight years of service at Canopius Group. He joined the firm in April 2014, taking on the role of Underwriting Technician within the firm’s Crisis Management team.
In 2015, he then became an Underwriting Assistant, within marine cargo, fine art & specie. Then in 2018, he became an Assistant Underwriter, marine liability. He would serve in this role until April 2021, when he became a Marine Underwriter.
Earlier this year, AXIS Capital appointed Christopher Gray as Global Head of Marine Reinsurance.
Additionally, AXIS recently unveiled its latest steps to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) in its ambition to transition to a low-carbon economy. The company has confirmed that it is committing to a 50% absolute reduction of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 across its global operations.
