Bermuda-based re/insurer Axis Capital has announced the appointment of Miranda Hunter as Head of Investor Relations.
Hunter has more than 15 years of re/insurance and financial industry experience, having held senior roles at various global firms. In the new role, AXIS states she will be responsible for leading its engagement with the investment community and proactively communicating the company’s vision, strategy, and financial approach.
Before joining AXIS, Hunter was Vice President of Operations and Strategic Development at Aeolus Capital Management and has held a progression of leadership roles at Validus, most recently as Vice President, Head of Investor Relations.
Additionally, Hunter holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with an Honours distinction, from the University of Manitoba, Asper School of Business and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda and Manitoba.
She will report to AXIS Chief Financial Officer, Peter Vogt, and will serve as a member of the Company’s Global Finance leadership team.
Vogt commented, “Miranda brings distinctive experience in the (re)insurance and financial industries, including strong relationships with the analyst community and expertise in leading investor relations functions.
“As we continue our strategic evolution to focus our portfolio on specialty, Miranda will be critical in sharing the AXIS strategy and story with the investment community.”
On a related note, Axis reported a net loss of $17 million for the third quarter of 2022 on the back of previously announced catastrophe losses primarily driven by Hurricane Ian.
The Q3 net loss compares with net income of $47 million a year earlier, as pre-tax catastrophe and weather-related losses, net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums, totalled $212 million, split $113 million insurance and $99 million reinsurance.
