Bamboo Insurance, a property insurance provider specialising in coverage solutions for challenging markets, has announced a new partnership with MS Transverse Insurance Company to increase its admitted homeowners and dwelling fire insurance capacity across California.

The collaboration provides around $150 million in additional admitted capacity and expands the range of options available through Bamboo Insurance’s existing product portfolio.

Bamboo Insurance said the agreement is intended to improve access to admitted coverage for homeowners, landlords, and insurance agents in areas where availability has become increasingly limited.

The expanded offering will support customers in high-risk and catastrophe-exposed locations, including Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco, where reduced insurer participation has placed additional pressure on the homeowners insurance market.

“Our partnership with MS Transverse represents a meaningful step forward in how we approach both affordability and capacity in challenging markets,” commented John Chu, CEO of Bamboo Insurance. “By expanding our carrier relationships and introducing more precise underwriting tools, we’re able to deliver more competitive pricing while maintaining the discipline needed for long-term sustainability.”

Bamboo Insurance said the partnership builds on its existing admitted insurance programmes by introducing additional policy options with more adaptable coverage structures. The company said these changes are designed to create greater choice for customers while supporting more accurate risk assessment and pricing.

As part of the expanded offering, Bamboo Insurance has introduced higher deductible options of up to $10,000, giving policyholders greater flexibility when selecting their coverage arrangements. The company has also added mandatory water damage sublimits with multiple tier options, allowing policies to be structured according to different risk profiles.

Bamboo Insurance has also launched a revised claim-free discount programme, which provides increasing discounts for policyholders who maintain longer periods without claims. The company said the approach is intended to recognise responsible policy management over time.

According to Bamboo Insurance, the additional capacity and enhanced underwriting capabilities strengthen its ability to serve the admitted homeowners and Difference in Conditions (DIC) markets.

The company said the expanded offering will provide agents with more opportunities to place eligible risks within admitted markets, including coverage for higher-value homes, rather than relying solely on surplus lines alternatives.

The announcement comes as California’s residential insurance sector continues to face challenges linked to rising reconstruction expenses, exposure to natural catastrophes, and a reduction in available insurance capacity.

“MS Transverse enhances our ability to continue writing in challenging markets while offering more competitive and configurable pricing options for agents and their clients,” Chu continued.

Bamboo Insurance said the increased capacity will be available throughout California for both new policies and renewals with effective dates from 17 July 2026. Coverage will continue to be offered through Bamboo Insurance’s network of agents and partners and will remain subject to applicable underwriting requirements, eligibility conditions, and regulatory approvals.
